This Song Will Save Your Life ~ Leila Sales

I judged this book by its cover and I should say I enjoyed reading it.

This is a story of a girl named Elsie who thinks she is born to be unpopular since she has tried everything to be otherwise but concludes to say that it is not so easy to change yourself.

She spends her entire summer trying to change herself, to be like others, to please others, only to go unnoticed on her first day back to school.

Her failed attempt to seek attention only got her grounded and her parents to get worried even more. Unable to sleep, she secretly started wandering out at nights. Her idea was to get tired so she could fall asleep once she was back home.

Elsie found an underground nightclub where she found happiness. She met people who gave her the attention and importance she wanted. Her talents were recognized and she was even offered a night to herself to become a DJ.

The journey of Elsie from being a no one to her name appearing in the newspaper is very engaging.

I had imagined this book to be filled with songs in every other page or something on those lines but it turned out to be much better. There are mentions of some songs, all of which are unheard by me but I would definitely give them a listen soon.

It is just a matter of time till you recognize what you are capable of.

Saturday views

Saturdays are meant to be relaxing after a super busy (lazy) Friday.

Office is quiet and empty and there is no rush. This is in case it is my working Saturday. Otherwise, it is nothing special except for last Saturday.

It started with some social service with an awesome view of Dubai.

Followed by gobbling down yummy pizza and warm dough balls with Nutella dip.

It didn’t just end there. The selfies without selfie stick happened. Trust me, it was fun 🙂

I couldn’t ask for more than a seat in the metro while on my way back.

Reached home only to be informed I had to attend a gathering with Mom. The day got even better with the view, delicious food and lovely people I met there.

Coming to today, my working Saturday. The sky outside was so pretty that it kept distracting me.

Mornings like these.

Only for it to get better.

And just before I left office. The cool breeze makes it even better.

Movie ~ The Vow (2012)

The_Vow_Poster

Love is magical. It has it’s moments.

This is what this movie taught me.

And No, I wasn’t able to finish watching this movie in one day. The movie is beautiful but it is just that I can’t sit at home for so long in one place and watch a movie. But then watching it in parts is equally fun 🙂

This movie is based on True Life events.

It starts with showing Paige and Leo madly in love with each other when they meet with a car accident. It then goes on to show a flashback of how they met, fell in love, exchanged vows and got married. Paige doesn’t manage to remember the last five years of her life, where in she had decided to look at things differently. The movie goes on to show how Leo does everything to win Paige back and get her love in the rightful ways.

Some lines I would like to quote from the movie

‘The thing is, each one of us is the sum total of every moment that we’ve ever experienced, with all the people we’ve ever known. And it’s these moments that become our history.’

‘To speak when words are needed and to share the silence when they’re not.’ {This is part of the Vow they exchange which is just so beautiful)

‘A moment of total physical, mental, and every other kind of love.’

A few of my favorite scenes from the movie

Having watched Shailene Woodley (Hazel) in The Fault in Our Stars, she caught my attention when I was randomly watching trailers of movies to pick something for the weekend.

The movie starts with Sutter trying to finish an essay and then takes us to the flashback to describe his state of mind.

Being dumped and drunk thereafter, Sutter lands up in a stranger’s lawn only to be woken up by Aimee who is on her paper route, helping out her mom. They have this instant connection. Aimee even agrees to let Sutter help her and during which he can also find his car.

Sutter falls for Aimee, surprising the people around. From parties to prom, Sutter takes AImee everywhere and even gifts her own flask. With Aimee urging Sutter to find out more about his Dad, disappointed and frustrated after the meeting, they fight in the car leading to Aimee stepping out only to be hit by a speeding car. That scene really blows of one’s mind.

While Sutter lives in the present, Aimee dreams about her future and has also thought about her college.

The movie then returns back to Sutter completing the question in his essay for his college applications. The answer is what makes the movie more worth watching.

With it’s fair mix of drama and romance, the movie is worth a watch.

Valentine’s Day indeed

Here is a girl writing a post about Valentine’s Day who hates anything in the shape of a heart.

I don’t know who got the idea of drawing a heart this way.

We all studied parts of a human body in our Science class in School. Does our heart look any similar to this? Absolutely not.

Following the ritual of checking Facebook and Twitter once I start my laptop, I see the following post on my Facebook Home page titled

21 Awkward Valentine’s Day Cards For Your Confusing Modern Relationship

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/02/11/valentines-cards-awkward_n_4757404.html

A good read. Made my day 🙂

Last week my best friend mentioned to me that he met ‘my S’. S is my college time crush. Oh I can’t get over him still. He introduced himself as part of the army when we first met and gullible me even thought that he was serious.

Further as I scrolled down on Facebook, I see MY crush tagged in a photo with a quote. And guess what. The photo was of him and his girlfriend. Like it was obvious that he would be dating but out of all days and after so many years, today was the day chosen to tell me about this. Nice. I take the pleasure of mentioning the words of some famous person she quoted along with the photo.

“Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ ve never shared with another soul and they absorb everything you say and actually want to hear more. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. When something wonderful happens, you can’t wait to tell them about it, knowing they will share in your excitement. They are not embarrassed to cry with you when you are hurting or laugh with you when you make a fool of yourself. Never do they hurt your feelings or make you feel like you are not good enough, but rather they build you up and show you the things about yourself that make you special and even beautiful. There is never any pressure, jealousy or competition but only a quiet calmness when they are around. You can be yourself and not worry about what they will think of you because they love you for who you are. The things that seem insignificant to most people such as a note, song or walk become invaluable treasures kept safe in your heart to cherish forever. Memories of your childhood come back and are so clear and vivid it’s like being young again. Colours seem brighter and more brilliant. Laughter seems part of daily life where before it was infrequent or didn’t exist at all. A phone call or two during the day helps to get you through a long day’s work and always brings a smile to your face. In their presence, there’s no need for continuous conversation, but you find you’re quite content in just having them nearby.
Things that never interested you before become fascinating because you know they are important to this person who is so special to you. You think of this person on every occasion and in everything you do. Simple things bring them to mind like a pale blue sky, gentle wind or even a storm cloud on the horizon. You open your heart knowing that there’s a chance it may be broken one day and in opening your heart, you experience a love and joy that you never dreamed possible. You find that being vulnerable is the only way to allow your heart to feel true pleasure that’s so real it scares you. You find strength in knowing you have a true friend and possibly a soul mate who will remain loyal to the end. Life seems completely different, exciting and worthwhile. Your only hope and security is in knowing that they are a part of your life. Much Cliched…#HappyValentinesDay ” ( Oh sure the last sentence is hers)

And then I go on Yahoo to check my emails (Yes, I Still use Yahoo) and see a feature saying Autocompose a Valentine. I liked the options it gave.

That’s all I can handle till now. Twitter, Instagram and stepping out of the house is still pending. Let’s see what is in store. Will update this post if I spot anything more to add to this.

Have a great day!

Everyone is around, yet no one.

Sometimes you want to be heard. Not that you are not being heard, but you want to be understood. Not that you are not being understood, you want them to say what you want to hear. And well.

Such days pull me back to this blog or my diary (which is long forgotten now).

I want to scream out but don’t know what. So muddled up in thoughts that I am not even sure what is going up there. It all comes at once. Like the mind has some magnetic power that it brings all situations at once.

I won’t call it being moody as many would say. But sometimes some things are meant to be understood. The tiniest of the hint gives it. Then what stops one from understanding the signal is beyond me.

One is a fool to expect, because expectations are meant to hurt. That is true, yet ignored. How many ever times we repeat it to ourselves, we continue to build on our expectations.

Writing because I felt like it.

Until next time.
